General specifications for Trash and Linen Chutes
CHUTE CONSTRUCTION
Fully factory assembled with all joints welded or lock seamed. There is one expansion joint per floor.
All chutes have a flush interior and are assembled without bolts, rivets or clips protruding into the
chute opening. Chutes are equipped with chute support clips (provided at each floor) pre-positioned
at the factory to assure proper chute alignment. The intake door and frame are adjustable and
securely fastened to the intake throat.
MATERIAL
Constructed of 16 gauge aluminized steel, galvanized steel, orstainless steel. Floor Supports are
constructed of 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" steel angles at each floor.
SIZE
Available in 20", 24", 28", 30", and 36" diameters. The standard chute size is 24" per NFPA
recommendations.
INTAKE DOORS
U.L. "B" labeled self closing Intake Doors are constructed of 20 gauge stainless steel fronts and 18
gauge aluminized steel backs. Each door is equipped with matching stainless steel trim and a keyed
chrome plated Tee handle.
DISCHARGE ASSEMBLY
Two types of Discharge Assemblies are available.
The standard Sliding Discharge Assembly is spring loaded and held open with a 165*F U.L. approved
fusible link. This assembly can be used for both trash and linen chute systems.
The Hopper Type Discharge Assembly consists of a U.L. "B" label stainless steel door held open with
a 165*F U.L. approved fusible link.
VENTS
Made the same diameter as the chute and extend 4'-0" above the finished roof per NFPA
recommendations. Vents are complete with vent flashing and metal weather cap.
SPRINKLER SYSTEM
We furnish one (1) U.L. approved 1/2" I.P.S., 165* F automatic brass Sprinkler Head located above the
top intake door of each chute system compolete with a fitting for connection by plumber. Depending
on the number of floors and the local fire codes, additional sprinkler heads are furnished on
alternate lower floors.
FLUSHING SPRAY HEAD
We furnish one (1) 1/2" I.P.S. Flushing Spray Head located above the top intake door of each chute
system complete with a fitting for connection by plumber.
